James Merrihew serves as Vice President of Asset Management, responsible for leading the strategy and long-term performance of McKibbon’s owned portfolio, including hotel properties, restaurants concepts, vacation rentals, parking decks, and office buildings. In this role, he oversees asset-level business planning, capital allocation decisions, renovation and investment strategies, and portfolio growth initiatives while ensuring properties are meeting financial goals, brand standards, and performance expectations. James joined the McKibbon team in 2021 as Asset Manager, monitoring and assessing the performance of the McKibbon-owned portfolio, implementing positioning strategies, and supporting capital improvement initiatives. An integral part of the portfolio’s performance and growth, he was promoted to Senior Asset Manager in 2023 and Vice President of Asset Management in 2026. Prior to his time with McKibbon, James held several on-property leadership roles with White Lodging, giving him operational expertise and firsthand insight into hotel performance, team leadership, guest experience, and day-to-day operations.
