McKibbon Hospitality Tops Out Dual-Brand Marriott

McKibbon Hospitality topped out the construction of a 22-story tower at the site above the Epicentre entertainment complex in Charlotte, NC. The structure will host a 184-room AC Hotel, a 116-room Residence Inn, 2,400 sq. ft. of meeting space, a two-bedroom super suite on the rooftop level, an independent rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as restaurant and retail space for lease. It is slated to open in early 2018.

McKibbon Hospitality, a hotel management and development company, finished expanding its Tampa headquarters Monday. The 10,000-square foot office in Avion Park's Westshore business district was constructed and designed by local architects, designers and consultants. Its chairs and tables, for example, were custom-designed by BUILT, a furniture design studio in Tampa.

With the construction of big hotels booming across town, Asheville City Council finally voted Tuesday night to approve new restrictions on large hotel construction.The hope is that more communication will lead to more deals like the one struck in January between City Council and hotelier John McKibbon, who came before elected officials seeking approval of his major remodeling of the former BB&T building into a boutique hotel, condos and restaurant and retail space. McKibbon promised living-wage jobs for full-time workers in his hotel and gave $250,000 to the city’s affordable housing trust fund.
