McKibbon Hospitality celebrates year of growth as Covid recovery continues

McKibbon grew its footprint over the past year by assuming management of 19 hotels throughout Florida, Georgia and Virginia, the company has revealed. The new additions – totaling 2,280 rooms – span select-service and extended-stay properties across various Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide and Hyatt Hotels Corporation brands. Since the pandemic began in 2020, the company has assumed management of 27 new properties in total. This brings the company’s current portfolio to 96 schemes, which together comprise 11,097 keys.

McKibbon recently announced a partnership with the University of South Florida in which students at USF’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management will engage in hands-on training at some of its nearly 100 hotels across the country, including the Courtyard by Marriott Tampa Downtown and the Kimpton Hotel Arras in Asheville, N.C. The partnership comes as USF aims to expand its hospitality management program from its Sarasota-Manatee campus into St. Petersburg and Tampa, opening the doors to hotel careers for entirely new swaths of students.

McKibbon hopes to shape the next generation of hospitality managers by turning their hotels into learning environments. The partnership became a reality in November as USF and McKibbon Hospitality inked an agreement that will transform the school into a leader in educating the next generation of hospitality managers in the state's most important industry. That partnership will help propel the school to expand from close to 200 students – all located today on USF's Sarasota-Manatee campus – to more than 500 students spread across the Sarasota-Manatee campus, St. Pete campus and the Tampa campus in the next couple of years.
