McKibbon Hospitality has been awarded Marriott International’s top hospitality manager award, the only company in Florida to receive the designation for 2016. McKibbon also received the award in 1995, the first year Marriott made the designations. The Partnership Circle Award is given annually to only about a dozen companies nationwide that own or manage 10 Marriott hotels or more.

Tampa's McKibbon Hospitality has added the Aloft Orlando Downtown hotel to its management portfolio, expanding its presence in Orlando. McKibbon currently manages three hotels in Orlando, and adds the new Aloft Hotel to its portfolio alongside Aloft Greenville Downtown, Aloft Asheville Downtown, and Aloft Tallahassee Downtown.

McKibbon Hospitality Tops Out Dual-Brand Marriott

McKibbon Hospitality topped out the construction of a 22-story tower at the site above the Epicentre entertainment complex in Charlotte, NC. The structure will host a 184-room AC Hotel, a 116-room Residence Inn, 2,400 sq. ft. of meeting space, a two-bedroom super suite on the rooftop level, an independent rooftop restaurant and bar, as well as restaurant and retail space for lease. It is slated to open in early 2018.

John McKibbon and his company, McKibbon Hospitality, have quite a regeneration planned for the former BB&T building. Within the next 18 months, the tallest building in Asheville will evolve into an upscale hotel/condominium development called The Arras, with 128 hotel rooms, two restaurants and 54 condos ranging in price from $600,000-$1.7 million. The building will once again become a centerpiece of downtown, hearkening back to the way the eye-catching tower commandeered Pack Square a half century ago.

Hotel Developers to Court: Officials made Demands before Hearing

Hotel developers are asking a Buncombe County Superior Court judge to overrule the City Council's rejection of a proposed eight-story downtown Embassy Suites hotel. The council has said it wants to eliminate the more formal conditional use permit hearing in favor of conditional zoning. The council asked for similar conditions in January 2016 with developer John McKibbon for the Arras hotel going into the former BB&T building. But that was a different process, known as as conditional zoning application. It's not quasi-judicial and allows discussion with a developer before and during a hearing.
