Nick Trainor

Vice President of Engineering

The most fulfilling aspect of the hospitality business is helping guests and my peers alike. No one in the industry does it like McKibbon - that’s what keeps me stimulated at work every day.

Anyone who’s lived with young children knows: If you can survive the morning rush of getting dressed, finding shoes, packing last-minute lunches and getting to school on time without breaking a sweat, you can do just about anything. While for many, mornings can be a stressful time, it’s one of the highlights of Nick’s day. The chaos of his kids in the morning simply means he’s “home,” and in his mind there’s no better feeling than that. That’s why, as Vice President of Engineering, his primary goal is to make every McKibbon-run hotel feel like home — with a few extra sets of hands taking care of the laundry and the dishes.

Over the course of his 20-plus year career, Nick has had the opportunity to learn all facets of hotel engineering and construction management. He began as an electrician and HVAC technician more than two decades ago and along the way has mastered the art of troubleshooting, project management, and dependability. Today, Nick is proud to lead a world-class team who’s responsible for keeping every single property spotless, secure and maintained to the highest standards of quality. He believes that when it comes to problem-solving, there’s no greater tool than the power of collaboration.

Before joining McKibbon in 2018, Nick followed our company story closely. then the opportunity to join arose, he didn’t hesitate. He ran, jumped, then swam to his new office in Tampa. He’s proud to say that hospitality begins with him — and he means it. A family man, Nick enjoys spending time on the boat with his family, and he’s passionate about supporting Give Kids the World, a nonprofit resort in Central Florida that provides weeklong, cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses. He’s most thankful for his own family and the opportunity to impact lives every day.
