Company History

In 1926, brothers Jack and Marvin McKibbon recognized their community’s need for a grocery store, which began the McKibbon legacy of customer service. They opened the first self-service grocery store north of Atlanta, a franchise with the Piggly Wiggly Company.
A generation later, Jack McKibbon, Jr., opened the area’s first motor court with a full service restaurant in 1946. This success led to the company becoming one of the earliest Holiday Inn franchisees. In the next generation, the company refocused its strengths on its core business of hotel development and operations, and has grown into one of Marriott’s largest franchisees.
Led by John McKibbon,
Nearly eight decades after its roots were planted in the service industry, the third generation has assembled a world-class management/finance team to lead this vibrant, privately held enterprise with multi-brand properties, including Marriott, Hilton and Starwood hotels.
